Journal Entry #7

Phil told Violet that there was nothing wrong with Klaus and that he was working really hard.  He told Violet that stamping the lumber is the easiest job at the mill.  Phil said Violet should look on the bright side and continued to tell her that there was nothing wrong with Klaus.  There was a huge boom and crashing noise.  The stamping machine had fallen on Phil's left leg and broken it.  Violet rushed over to Phil, but he was not screaming or crying.  He was very calm and said that his leg was just broken.  Violet tells Phil that he has to get to a hospital.  Phil does not want to go.  Many of the workers at the mill promise to share their coupons to the Paultryville hospital so that Phil could go get his leg looked at.  Violet goes and calls for an ambulance.  Foreman Flacutono says that this is the worst disaster that has ever happened at the mill.  He starts to complain that this accident has broken the stamping machine and he doesn't care that Phil has broken his leg.  Klaus begins to talk about the meaning of a word and Violet realizes that he has started to act normal again.  Klaus asks what has happened to Phil.  Klaus does not even remember what he saw a minute ago.  Foreman Flacutono tells Klaus that he has broken the stamping machine and now the workers can not work anymore today.  He says that no one will get coupons for todays work.  Violet says that this is unfair and Foreman Flacutono says that he does not care.  Klaus bends down to pick up Foreman Flacutono's pots and as he gets up his glasses fall off and break.  Flacutono says that Klaus needs to go see the optometrist, but Klaus refuses.  Foreman Flacutono says that he has to go.  Violet says that she and Sunny could take Klaus to see Dr. Orwell.  Foreman Flacutono lets the Baudelaire orphans go to the eye doctor together.

Journal Entry #6

Klaus finally comes back from the eye doctor.  Violet begins to ask Klaus what happened, but Klaus says that he doesn't remember anything.  He remembers breaking his glasses and going with Charles to see the eye doctor, but doesn't remember anything after that.  Violet told Klaus to lay down on the bottom bunk to get some rest.  In the morning, Foreman Flacutono came into the room banging his pots.  Violet, Sunny and Klaus got up in a hurry.  Klaus didn't know where he was.  He told Violet that he didn't know where he was and didn't remember what happened the night before.  Violet noticed that Klaus was acting weird.  Klaus walked out of the bedroom and into the courtyard without putting on his shoes.   Violet tells Phil that there is something wrong with Klaus and that he should find out what it is.  Phil tells Violet that there is nothing to worry about and that she should not cause any trouble.  The Baudelaire orphans began their work at the mill.  Violet began to ask Klaus about what happened the night before, but Klaus would not answer the questions or say a word.  Klaus then followed Foreman Flacutono to the stamping machine and Klaus began to stamp the lumber with the mill's name.
