Journal Entry #4
The Baudelaire orphans start to debark the logs. Sunny couldn't use her debarker, so she used her teeth. Charles came into the mill and told Foreman Flacutono that the orphans could not be working in the mill because they were too young. Foreman Flacutono said that their guardian gave specific orders to him that the orphans had to work in the mill. Foreman Falcutono gave each Baudelaire orphan a piece of gum for their lunch. On their lunch break, Charles then took the orphans to see the library. When they entered, they asked where all the books were. Charles said that the owner of the mill let him build the library, but not buy any books. Charles had only three books in the library which he put in there. One of the books scared the Baudelaire orphans. The book had a big eye on the cover just like the eye that Count Olaf has tattooed on his ankle. Charles said the local optometrist wrote the book and gave it to him. The orphans fear that Count Olaf is the optometrist. Charles took them back to the mill. While working in the mill, Foreman Flacutono tripped Klaus. Klaus fell and broke his glasses. Charles then took him to see the local optometrist. Violet and Sunny were left behind and were scarred that Klaus would have to face Count Olaf alone.
